● Obama has left Moscow. He found a Medvedev with whom to make contact. But in same time, Putin has found a firm and hard. He discovered (which, moreover, should already know) that it is Dmitry Medvedev, the president of the Russian Federation, to have effective powers. The real reins of the country, in fact, are in the hands of Vladimir Putin. A man who, to quote Obama, "is still with one foot in the Cold War."

arises, then, for the U.S. administration the issue of "do" after the blatant conflicts of the years of George W. Bush.

Obama, in this first period of his administration, showed be pragmatic. And even if you let go with an accusation (hard) the prime minister to Moscow with the Kremlin always know that you can not break. Let alone the merits of domestic issues.

A "synagogue mobile runs on the streets of Moscow. It is to serve the faithful of the Jewish faith who wish to pray without being forced to cover long distances to places of worship in the Russian capital. As reported in the press in Moscow, it is a sort of camper painted to look like the Wailing Wall, which runs through the city, stopping in places usually crowded and very popular. Half comes from the rabbi who invites those who wish to come to recite prayers. To this end, the synagogue is mobile equipped with everything needed to celebrate the Jewish rite. After the prayer it is possible to obtain information on, among other things, buy a place in the Jewish cemetery in Moscow or places where you can perform the circumcision. For the most part the synagogue traveling along the central street and the long Tverskaia Leningradski Shosse, stopping often to Sokol and Aeroport metro stations. BULGARIA

WINS THE RIGHT AND collapse of the SOCIALIST. CHANGING THE FACE OF SOFIA

Elena Ferrara

Sunset definitely the old myth of the vote seen as a plebiscite Bulgarian Communist. Now Sofia is definitely right and from the polls, in fact, vote out the new Bulgarian is all in the name of the conservatives and reactionaries. There was, in fact, in recent days, the victory of Gerb (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), the conservative party of Sofia mayor Boyko Borissov a former firefighter and former bodyguard of the secretary of the Communist time, Todor Zhivkov. And there was the consequent collapse of the Socialist Party (BSP) over the last four years, Bulgaria ruled in coalition with the center-right party of former king Simeon II (Ndsv) and the Liberal Party the Turkish minority (DPS).

The BSP finds himself reduced to a minimum and its leader Sergei Stanishev, the Socialist has definitely lost paying so for all cases of corruption at the highest levels of power. Pay for the its inability to combat organized crime, and all this against a backdrop of rising unemployment after the country entered a recession in recent months. Many of the supporters of the BSP, finally, they never to swallow the "strange" coalition with Ndsv and DPS.

The heavy air of the right had already been felt in 2007 when the Gerb, member of the EPP in Strasbourg, had won the local elections and the first European country in the Balkans, and last June 7 was the head came back to Europe for the second time, sending five members to parliament in the share of the 17 Bulgarian.

Now we can therefore say that Bulgarian voters (53% turnout) have punished the Socialists for their way of governing and have placed their hopes in Gerb. And Gerb should not have trouble forming a government and to count on other minor parties in Parliament to right: the Coalition blue (7.7% of the vote), the RZS (Order, Lawfulness, Justice, 4.6%) and the Party Leader entrepreneur Kristo Kovachki (4.0%). Remain in opposition, in addition to the Socialists, the DPS (11, 3%) and the nationalist party Ataka (9%). The big loser is the Ndsv however, that after eight years in power, now collects only 3% of the votes and therefore remains outside parliament. ( Published 8 July 2009).

● starts today a new series of this internet space. The main idea is to give space for texts, reports, documents, recollections, books and tests. Everything on the ground in Eastern Europe: Former Soviet Union, countries that were defined by the term "socialist camp", Comecon and the Warsaw Pact. You will find analysis and re-enactments of the past here, but mostly you will give space to date. We will, therefore, political science, the discipline that concerns the systematic investigation of the socio-political phenomena, also referred to as traditional political science.

In the realization of our space-internet then keep in mind that all of the problems posed by the crisis of ideology affirmed the east (such as state structure) and the collapse of most political regimes in this ideology were inspired to be reviewed and discussed.

The demolition of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, is, In fact, conventionally regarded as the symbolic event of the concomitant end of the Cold War and the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe. In fact, warning signs of disruptive dynamics that have affected the communist regimes in Eastern Europe had known for some time. During the leadership of Gorbachev in the Soviet Union, which began in March 1985, had in fact already produced creeping secession of the Baltic republics of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, that became independent in March 1990 and formally recognized by the Russian Federation the following year . In parallel, he had seen a sharp acceleration approach Political and diplomatic West to Central European countries, long unruly members of the "family" community, such as Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Even more striking in the case of Poland, who had already experimented with the form, first for the classic communist regimes, governments of national coalition forces to open and declared the movement of anti-inspiration. The post-communist

manifests itself now in the former central state leadership, the Soviet Union, with characters of high instability. The Russian Federation itself has been shaken by political unrest, to economic demands by ethnic tensions that threaten several times unity and governance. The country is still living a transition to democratic rules of the game that sets in motion processes to a large extent unforeseen by Western political science. There was, remember, the uprising in August 1991 coup that threatened the post-communist transition in Russia and provoked, however, the failure of the attempt to drive the process of peaceful and progressive transformation. Gorbachev was ousted at the end of the year when it opened the season of personalistic leadership of Boris Yeltsin. The social and financial implications of moving to a spurious form of market economy generated a bit 'everywhere widespread popular discontent. With the collapse of the so-called socialist regimes, the successor states ESTABLISHED on the basis of a previous identity recognizable linguistic, religious, ethnic or cultural - Poland, Hungary and, less linear, Romania, Bulgaria and Albania itself & ndash , then tried to compose himself in the container of a new nation-state whose territorial boundaries were those enshrined in the Second World War. There are explosions, however, reality artificially constructed by the old diplomacy and "frozen" by the postwar Soviet domination, as in the case of separation (peaceful) from czech Republic and Slovakia (January 1993) and in the disintegration of the (bloody) in the former Yugoslavia. Also marked the post-communist, therefore, the re-emergence of strong regional tensions, unresolved issues related to ethnic or linguistic minorities (the crossing point between Lithuanian and Polish communities in the border areas between the two countries, the issue of Hungarians in Romania and Slovakia, the Albanians of Macedonia, the Turks of Bulgaria, not to mention the complicated mosaic Bosnian. RUSSIA-USA TODAY

OBAMA COMES TO THE KREMLIN. INTERVIEW WITH MEDVEDEV, while Putin SCALP

Carlo Benedetti

The "acid test" between Russia and the United States has begun today in the Kremlin on July 6. It will last until tomorrow and only then can do the real stock of the situation and understand the extent to which the American and Russian Obama Medvedev (still under the control of Putin seems more faithful to the orthodoxy of the old school ...) have reached important agreements on the process of negotiations to reduce nuclear arsenals. Negotiations were started on April, after a meeting between the two leaders in London, but now due in December of Start-1 Treaty makes the issue even more urgent in relation impetuous evolution of both companies. And again in Moscow Obama will also meet former political archeology of Kremlin leader Mikhail Gorbachev, and several members of Russian society. It will be a sort of reconnaissance facade to show that the U.S. will not forget the past and want to have Always on hand a key to organic. As for today, for now, it is expected that only the usual Kremlinology presented in the media. Worth, meanwhile, some jokes are always a symptom of the Russian-American relationship. So Obama sends word that the Russians must understand that the approach to relations with Washington - existed during the so-called "cold war" - must belong to the past. Then with a lunge that stands out is an unlikely diplomat in Moscow and not at all correct. In the words of Obama, in fact, the former Russian President Putin "stands with one foot on the old road to development relations, and on a new one. " Ready the answer. Putin said he "firmly stand up and look to the future" and adds that the position described by the American "is a pose uncomfortable for us: we are still standing and look to the future." And while the comments to the beats follow each other intrigues and concessions between Russian President Medvedev made it known to see new prospects for relations with the United States.

He already said in his message addressed to U.S. President on the occasion of Independence Day of the United States. "We expect the summit - he wrote - have achieved concrete results that will open up new perspectives for the development of our relations. I sincerely hope that with our mutual efforts, the relations between the U.S. and Russia can make a quantum leap. " And then Obama, trying to grasp the real meaning of the message the Kremlin has used the channel's journalistic agency Itar-Tass in Moscow that the intention of disarming the two countries should be a signal to the world.

"We want to store the Cold War era," said Obama, explaining you want to discuss specific figures for the reduction of nuclear arsenals of the United States and Russia. Meanwhile, it seems that Obama meeting in the Russian capital will also start thinking about a new treaty to reduce strategic arms, the expiry of the Start at year end. The hypothesis, according to experts, is that the two countries in Moscow just sign a declaration of intent to set a ceiling of 1,500 with their nuclear warheads.

According to figures released last April, the U.S. currently have 5,576 nuclear warheads and Russia has 3,909. It will therefore be that this opens in Moscow on the top of the resumption of relations between Russians and Americans. But it is true that the appointment of peace lies the shadow of the Kremlin premier Vladimir Putin, still smarting from the criticism leveled at him by Obama having a foot in the past and yet to be a mentality in the Cold War. And turning to the Russians, Putin wanted to remind viewers that the fact of being very firm on his legs is a peculiarity of Russia: "This - he added - is what has always allowed Russia to move forward and become more ; strong. And this will continue. " Then the head of the Russian government has taken another pebble in the shoes, trespassing in a matter now of close presidential powers: "If we saw our American partners to give up the deployment of new missile complexes, missile defense systems, for example, or revise their approach towards the expansion of military-political bloc, or generally think more in terms of blocks, then this would be a great step forward, "he said in reference to U.S. missile defense initiative, the so-called missile shield and NATO expansion, and thus postponing the ball in the court of the Cold War adversary.

He had previously been influenced by the government spokesman Dmitri Peskov to try to limit the damage of the criticism of Obama: "I think the American president does not possess complete information. I am sure that after meeting with Putin, will change its point of view, "said Peskov, ensuring that Putin has long understood that the Cold War between East and West is over.

The word, however, now goes to the table of the Kremlin. For Obama, however, is already a triumph to have arrived in Moscow. The Russians of the older generation, in fact, only remember the America of Angela Davis and the idols of jazz, the first western movie with the extermination of "Indians" and the political fate in key American-Soviet Communist leader Gus Hall. Many were formed in the light of the cartoons of the "Pravda" he called all Americans "Uncle Sam" puppets of imperialism. Now the new generation discovers another Russian America. It salutes the American president when he says - from the first page of the Moscow daily Novaya Gazeta - "We must all remember the Cold War."

brings us the program reserved for American guests from the Kremlin. Today, after the ritual ceremonies and the first face-to-face with Medvedev, Obama should give a speech to students of a Higher Institute of Economics and meet representatives of civil society and among these was the Communist Party leader Gennady Zjuganov. From the Russian capital, will fly to Italy on Wednesday to attend the G8 summit, where the results of the Moscow summit will inevitably become the subject of debate 'expanded'. Especially since there will be Aquila Chinese President Hu Jintao, candidate for the role of 'the balance' on some delicate issue, Iran first of all. ( Posted on July 6, 2009).
